HUD & World

Quest 9 of 11 on the Godot 4 Action Roguelike path → a finished game

Give your roguelike its screen and its props. Build a HUD that tracks your real stats, NinePatch health and stamina bars with damage-chip juice, an XP bar and level-up banner, a stat allocation panel, then the world you interact with: dropped loot that flies into your inventory, bonfires you rest at, lost souls you reclaim your XP from, chests, breakable barrels, and a fog-of-war minimap. Every lesson presses Play with zero errors.

Is This Quest For You?

Perfect for you if:

  • You built the roguelike systems and want the HUD and props that make it a game
  • You want bars that track your real stats with proper damage-chip feel
  • You want the interactable world: loot, bonfires, chests, barrels, a minimap
  • You want each step to leave a project that runs with zero errors

Not for you if:

  • You have not built stats, combat, or the dungeon yet (the HUD wires into them)
  • You have never opened Godot (start with the Controller or Godot for Programmers)
  • You only want finished UI code to copy without building it
  • You want a generic UI framework rather than this game's souls-like HUD
