Coins, Combos & Stomping

Quest 5 of 8 on the Your First Game path → a finished game

Your character can already run and jump. Now give the world something to do. You build collectible coins that sparkle and sing, a combo-scoring HUD that warms up as you chain pickups, an enemy you stomp instead of dodge, and a clean death-and-respawn loop. This is where a controller turns into a game.

Is This Quest For You?

Perfect for you if:

  • You finished the move and jump quest and want a real game loop
  • You want pickups, scoring, and enemies that actually feel good
  • You care about juice: particles, screen shake, combos, and feedback
  • You want to understand the stomp-vs-hurt decision, not just copy it

Not for you if:

  • You haven't built the platformer controller yet (do Move & Jump first)
  • You want 3D or top-down combat
  • You only want a finished project to download
  • You're brand new to GDScript (start with Code From Zero)
