1. Introduction
Coding Quests ("we", "us", or "our") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect your personal information when you use our website and services at codingquests.io ("the Platform").
2. Information We Collect
2.1 Information You Provide
- Account information: Name, email address, and password when you create an account through Memberstack
- Profile information: Display name, avatar, and class selection
- Age confirmation: Your year of birth, which we ask for once to confirm you meet our minimum age of 13 and to record whether you are a minor
- Community content: Posts, comments, questions, replies, and any images or clips you upload to the Guild Hall, plus reports you file about other content
- Payment information: Billing details handled securely by Stripe. We never store your full credit card number
- Feedback: Lesson ratings, comments, and support messages
2.2 Information Collected Automatically
- Usage data: Pages visited, lessons completed, features used, and course progress
- Analytics (optional): PostHog records the pages you view and the lesson actions you take, so we can see which lessons work. It only runs when analytics is on (see section 5)
- Ad measurement (optional): When we run ads, the Meta Pixel and the Google Ads tag record which ad brought you here and whether you signed up or started a trial. They also only run when analytics is on
- Technical data: IP address, browser type, device information, and referring URLs (collected by Cloudflare)
3. How We Use Your Information
We use collected information to:
- Provide, maintain, and improve the Platform
- Process payments and manage subscriptions
- Track your learning progress, XP, achievements, and streaks
- Send transactional emails (account confirmations, billing receipts)
- Send marketing emails if you opt in (via Kit.com). You can unsubscribe any time
- Analyze usage patterns to improve our content and features (only when analytics is on)
- Measure which ads bring learners to the Platform (only when analytics is on)
- Prevent fraud and enforce our Terms of Service
- Moderate community content, review reports, and keep the Guild Hall safe (including for younger members)
4. Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services that may process your data:

Each service operates under its own privacy policy. We encourage you to review their policies.
4.1 Optional analytics and the records we always keep
Analytics and ad measurement are optional. You choose them with the Analytics switch (see section 5). Some records are part of running the Platform, so we keep them whatever you choose:
- Your account and sign-in
- Your learning progress, XP, and saves
- Your payments, subscription, and billing records
Billing events (a trial starting, a payment, a cancellation) come to us from Stripe and Memberstack, not from your browser. We always keep them as billing records. Our server only passes them on to PostHog, or to Meta with your email hashed, if you have turned analytics on while signed in, which saves your choice to your account. If you turned it off, or never made a choice while signed in, they are not passed on.
6. Data Retention
We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide services. If you delete your account, we will delete or anonymize your personal data within 30 days, unless the law requires us to keep it.
7. Your Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Correct inaccurate or incomplete data
- Delete your personal data. You can delete your whole account yourself at any time: open your Profile, then Settings, then Delete account. If you have a paid membership, cancel it first in Settings with Manage billing so the charges stop.
- Export your data in a portable format
- Opt out of marketing communications

8. Data Security
We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your data, including:
- HTTPS encryption for all data in transit
- Secure authentication through Memberstack
- Payment data handled exclusively by PCI-compliant Stripe
- API rate limiting and security headers
No method of transmission over the Internet is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your data, we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. Children's Privacy
The Platform is not directed at children under 13. We ask every member to confirm their year of birth, and we do not knowingly allow or collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that an account belongs to a child under 13, we will remove it and delete the associated data. If you believe we have collected data from a child under 13, contact us and we will delete it promptly. Members under 18 should only use the Platform with a parent or guardian's permission.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by updating the "Last updated" date. Your continued use of the Platform after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
